Of Socks, Food, Drinks and Gifts...
Ahhh Christmas, the only time of the year it is acceptable to say "Merry Christmas, here's a pack of underwear". OK, I suppose Birthdays count as well, but still...
Anyways - you know how most people have a few odd socks knocking around, well, we have a few more than that. Like, three carrier-bags, FULL of odd-socks. The strange thing is, that there are NO pairs in amongst them all. None, zip, nada. We always keep them "just in case" and quite often, I wander around with either Semi-Paired socks - ie, two blue socks, or one blue one black. Heck, more often than not, I wear one black/one white. I don't care!
Of course, we spent yesterday clearing up the downstairs, and found all the socks. And I mean ALL the socks. All the odd ones I mean. So now we've made a very hard decision (read: Very Easy) that after Christmas, we are going to corral all the socks, chuck them out and buy more. (NB: The same goes for my boxers - they are at the stage where the integral part of their construction, that is, the crotch, has disintegrated!).
So - we're ALMOST ready for Xmas. I'm cooking for nine Xmas Day (including us), but hadn't bought anything as we needed to clear up and get a list of what we need. Well, last night, our friend Ian took Jo into town, and they spent two hours getting all the stuff on the list. £200 and two shopping trolleys (Shopping Carts to you Americans!) later, and we now have all the freezable stuff, all the drinks, all the snacks and nibbly stuff - all that is left now is to get all the fresh stuff. Jo's mum is taking me Xmas Eve to to store which opens at 6am. Can't wait for that! hehehe
Every single gift that needs to be purchased is now sitting in our bedroom ready to be wrapped. Of course, we forgot wrapping paper, but that's an "In-and-Out of Town" job that shouldn't take more than three fricking hours!
And the best part of it all - Jo has some kind of shopping bug (I think it stems from her girlie genes) and has wanted, nay, demanded to do all the shopping! The only thing I have purchased so far is....... Erm...... That is, Hmmm....
Pah, has the greatest gift of all - ME.
