YAAAAAR!

Piss-Holes In The Snow

That is how I can sum up my levels of alertness at the moment.  My eyes feel like deep, dark piss holes in the snow.  It's all my own doing I know, but none the less, since Tuesday of last week, I've not stopped, and think I am either going to need to rest ASAP, or just crash and burn.

The post I made the other day about being Rough still stands, and while I'm in less pain, I can attribute that to the wonders of drugs.

The weekend with Kellie has been excellent on so many levels mind you, it made it all worthwhile.  Sally and Myself got there Friday afternoon - a little later than planned thanks to the bus we were on deciding to stop a fifteen minute walk down the road from our usual stop.  Oops.  However, the weather on Friday/Saturday/Sunday has been marvellous, so the walk was all good - and Kellie met me halfway anyway!

Friday night we went to a pub called The Haystack, followed by an Indian meal at a restaurant called Ananika which was fantastic.  My food was spicy to the point everyone was making little O's with their mouth and reaching for their drink.  Yummy ;)  After that, we headed back to the pub, where the DJs took over and had a few more drinks.  We were out with Kellies mum, and her boyfriend Jon who, strangely, has the same birthday as me, just a few years older.  Two girls from Canvey, both with a boyfriend from Basildon, with the same birthday... Freaky ;)

Saturday was Kellies oldest at football practice, followed by housework, followed by some people over.  Kellies best friend Kerry, plus her fella Paul and her three kids came over, along with Kerrys brother, Kevin, his wife Kelly, and their toddle - all over to have a birthday drink with me.  Music, lots of laughs, some very obvious cheating at Trivial Pursuit... Good times!

Sunday we stayed in bed till the shockingly late time of 10am, got up, and Kellie set about making a roast dinner - Lamb - with all the trimmings.  We pottered away in the kitchen - well, when I say "we" I was there for moral support - and eventually sat down at about 2pm.

I can sum up the meal with Om Nom Nom Nom and indeed, Nom...

The rest of the afternoon whizzed by, and before we knew it, we were saying goodbye and I was trundling across Basildon to get Jaysen

And now, here we are back to another Monday.  Pah.  The weather has gone crap, I'm cold, tired and aching, but I'll get over it ;) It was all worth it, and I've had such a good week... I'm going to slob and veg out today and try to recharge Ye Olde Batteries.

And for those that noticed... Bugger and Damnation! I completely and utterly forgot Talk Like A Pirate Day! DOH! I think I am destined to never remember it! Yaaar indeed :(

And They Sing "Na na-na na na!"

Kids TV.  You have to love it really, especially if A) You have no choice, and B) It has catchy music.

Of course, option C) It involves Pirates is always nifty too.  If you recall a couple of weeks ago, I posted an entry about Stringfever, which I mentioned I saw "on a kids TV show"  Well, that program, as mentioned by Evil Emma, was Space Pirates.  You can see the official kids site HERE, or the Wikipedia page HERE.

Of course, the best/worst thing about the show HAS to be the theme song.  I mean, it's got crap animation, dodgy acting, REALLY annoying kid actors...  But the theme song is so bloody catchy.

It came on earlier while I was writing my other post, and me and Jaysen - while doing our own things - both sat there singing along.  And even when I did the Musical Monday post, I was STILL humming it.

So, it's only fair I should share.

And YAY for being Pirate-Based!

As is usual when I am wandering around on YouTube, something else always catches my attention, usually a remix, and this time it's no different.

I give you the rock-remix, and have to say, I love it. The band covering it are excellent, so thumbs up for them too!

Captain DJ heads the crew,
Honk and Tonk and Lippy too,
Jolly Roger chatting with you,
Space Pirates!

Brassy leads the Jingle band,
Windy and Stringy lend a hand,
Zorst ensures your travel is planned,
Space Pirates!

And we all sing,
Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na-na-na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!

Hey!

Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na-na-na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!
Hey! Hey! Hey!
Pirate Posse have their say,
Choosing the song-list of the day,
Deciding which of three to play,
Space Pirates!

Journey into outer space,
Far away from the human race,
Finding songs in any old place,
Space Pirates!

Everybody sing,
Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na-na-na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!

Hey!

Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na-na-na na,
Space Pirates!
Na na-na na na,
Space Pirates!

Be Prepared!

Three years ago, I forgot.
Two years ago, I had ManFlu
One year ago, I was in Holland.

This is the year...  This year, I will be home for International Talk Like A Pirate Day!  And you better remember to.  Talk like a pirate, Blog like a pirate, and if the mood takes you, DRESS like a Pirate!

YAAAAR ya buggers!  Any questions, click that link, or this one - just in case!  I expect to see lots of Piratey-type stuff on September 19th.  Even if you are blogging your normal daily stuff, do it like a Pirate!

Yaaaar!

YAR HAR fiddle-de-dee indeed!

YAAAR!

You know what this blog has been missing for some time? Pirates! YAAAAR!

And why, you might ask, is Dan suddenly and randomly discussing pirates? Because, it's coming... Last year, it approached rapidly, it got closer and closer - and I even told the world to ignore my birthday in favour of this date.

And yes, to the anonymous commenter previously, unless I tell people otherwise, the entire world does in fact celebrate my birthday..... *cough*

Anyway, Talk Like A Pirate Day is coming! Oh yes, September 19th, you have to post in the style of a pirate. To add to this, last year I missed TLAPD due to sickness. This year, I will be on mainland Europe, but I shall post, oh yes. I have my ways.

And because this is a piratey post, we have to have the greatest pirate video ever.

And for the record: Pirates are better than Ninjas. If you think otherwise, please leave!

Edit: Oooh, two Busty Wenches for post icons in a row!

Blergh *sniffle*

Today, I did something that I do so rarely, it throws me into a spin and I get all confused and detached when it happens.

I went to bed and slept this afternoon. Not because I particularly wanted to, but because Jo told me to do so, and that I felt so crappy I would have fallen asleep in front of the PC. That's Personal Computer and not Pediatric Cardiologist. But anyway. I went to the bedroom at about midday - a bedroom that I rarely see during the day - laid down and had a read for half an hour, and the next thing I know, Jaysen it poking me in the side of the head with a "Mummy said you have to wake up, Daddy".

The clock showed 5.50pm. Ugh.

It's getting on for 7pm now, and we've got company tonight. Not sure if I can handle sitting around rolling dice and being geeky, but if we cancel this week, we'll cancel next week, then the next and the next... So no cancel.

Anyway - thanks to everyone that sent me piratey links and did piratey posts - made me chuckle. Gold star to Christinefor actually making pirates yesterday.

Tim - I should point out that Talk Like a Pirate day is International. You'll have to celebrate next year - don't worry, you'll get lots of warning! hehe

I Missed It!

*cry*

So I've spent the last 36 hours being poorly, and still feel as rough as sandpaper. The joy of Jaysen being at school is he brings back Every. Single. Germ.

On the bright side, I've not been flu-like for a very long time - lots of colds and sniffles, but I feel like hell.

Which means I didn't get a single pirate day post. Well done to all of you that did the piratey thing though. I think in truth I am just run down. Getting up at the butt-crack of dawn, rushing around all day doing whatever, being busy and what-not, then going to bed late, it all caught up, and Jaysen bring home his cold was the last straw. My body found it, accepted it, and just let it go for broke.

My birthday was wonderful - various fried animals in copious amounts, lots of beer (but not too much - I don't drink till I pass out), lots of cake, a fire-hazard that was my cake and various pressies. There was no hang over, but Monday my throat started getting that nasty itchy-sore feeling. Monday lunchtime the headache started, and just after dinner I was ready for bed. Yesterday I was barely functional, and today I've dragged myself out of bed so I can get the other germ-factory ready for school. Thank heavens Ruth has offered to take him in. I am sitting her sweating and shivering, all at once.

I hate being ill. My everything hurts. And I can feel it moving straight to my sinuses I can always tell when sinusitus is coming on, because if I try to breathe in really deep, my nose gurgles and I can smell burnt toast. I know, I know, very odd, but there you are.

Meh, I need a coffee too. Yaaar, me hearties. Yaaar.

Forget My Birthday

Yep, tomorrow is my birthday, but wait! There is a more important date up and coming. September 19th.

International Talk Like A Pirate Day! (US or UK. Google Search)

So, on Tuesday, all the posts I put on here with be in the style of a scurvy sea-sailing dog. Yaaar!

It's also worth noting - to men first - that March 14th is ALSO a date for your diary. Considering this is a "Family" blog, I'll let you find out why with a Google Search for "March 14th Steak" Oh course, you girlies can look too, as it concerns you to an extent ;)
