Face/Off Musical Monday - Yes, I'm Lazy

Sometimes my own laziness ingenuity surprises even me. Yes, I've had a shitty weekend, and yes, the weather is grey and pouring with rain. "But Dan-" I said to myself in the shower, like all crazies do "-that's not a reason to let down your loyal readers" And I agreed with myself. As I usually do, as it's novel. So no, you won't miss Musical Monday, and Face/Off Friday is a few days late.

The people will let you off.

And so they should, after all, I would hate to spread secret information about them on the intarweb. What sort of person am I to do such a thing. Just because someone is Old, or Short, or Blonde, or otherwise a target of my evil ways, who am I to be horrible,

Oh yes, me.

But anyway... Musical Monday today is a cover of a song I love to bits. However, the actual original version I can take or leave, and the song in general is certainly full of strange lyrics. Incubus - Turning Japanese is a cover of the original song by The Vapours, and I am sure there are those among you that know what the song is a reference to. If not, Google is your friend.

And, to slot in nicely with the Musical Monday theme, we'll have a Face/Off Friday Monday with the songs. Ignore the videos. The Incubus version is a home-made video, the Vapours video is, er... well, it's full of 80s strangeness.

Face/Off Friday #1 Results

So, it's official, and by a hell of a margin too. You, the people, have decreed it, and no longer can people question which is worse, the Freaky Ass King or the Freaky Ass Clown:

Face/Off Friday #1 - Freaky Mascot vs. Freaky Mascot

So, here we are with the first Face/Off Friday! What is Face/Off Friday? Simple - you post two things that are related to one another, and then let you - the readers - decide which is better. It can be any two things, just so long as they are related. Quantum Physics vs. That Brick Over There is just too odd. Post however you like - videos, picture, links, and then let your readers comment or click their votes. Once and for all, those questions will be answered. And no copping out - you have to chose one or the other. None of this "Neither" or "Both" milarky.

And so, on with it!

I will add at this point, I HAD made a very nice "Original Song vs. Cover Song" Face/Off ready - all laid out nicely, video clips and so on.. But someone at YouTube decided the original was a Copyright Violation and removed it. The bastards. So now you get this mediocre Face/Off Friday post.

There are few things that are creepier in the world, and when companies start using creepy things for their advertising, you have to wonder where their executives are at. So, here is the ultimate question.

Something For Fridays

With Musical Mondays slowly spreading among the blogsphere, I was thinking at midnight I should do something else, but on the other side of the weekend (ie, Friday), and something that has a little more participation. I love Musical Mondays, but as it stands, you post something, and that's that. However, my Friday idea will require a little more input from readers!

So, each Friday I will be doing a Face/Off Friday. Post two related things, and have people decide which is better. Fruit vs. Veg, Puppy vs. Kitten, Original Song vs. Cover... Two movies, two famous people, quotes - whatever takes your fancy, just make sure they are related. Carrots vs. Jumbo Jets would be kinda confusing. Besides, a 747 would totally destroy the carrot.

People will then get to vote in the comments, or, if you are a smart-ass (not saying names) you can use some free Poll software if you can handle it. I use FreePolls for the stuff I need, but you don't have to. I don't know if I will or not.

Hopefully this will be a bit of fun to get people commenting more and more on your blog, and who knows, maybe even generate more traffic. Those age-old arguements will be answered; who would win in a fight betweem a Caveman and an Astronaut? Is Tofu really better than the real thing? Are Spiders scarier than Snakes? Chocolate or Strawberry milkshake?

I will make a post each week also detailing YOUR polls, and what the outcome is. When we are gone and dust, our great-grand kids can plug the web into their head and look back and know, once and for all, that Hardy was hands-down better than Laurel.
