Religious Observance

If you've been reading 0ddness for a while, you will know one of the things I do is "random thoughts that serve NO purpose" usually on account of being tired or medicated.

Random crap seems to ooze from my brain on a regular occurrence, and being that I've been awake since 4am with my legs and back screaming blue murder, it's no wonder, then, that my brain has done it again.

Today is Good Friday, which means most people have the day off work. Monday (here, anyway) is a Bank Holiday, which means, again, most people have the day off work. This presents one of the rare Four Day Weekends that land on peoples laps every now and then... Four days off without booking a single day of holiday - not to mention the week either side also becomes the hallowed Four Day Working Week, another highly sought-after prize.

But I digress...

Most people are either not- or anti-religious. I know very few practising religious sorts. Church-every-Sunday types. A lot of people are of the "Don't Ram Your Religion Down My Throat" types.

And yes, dear Reader, if you know me, you will know that I too am very NOT religious. But we won't go there.

So here's my plan. Unless you are properly religious, church attending, hymn singing religious, surely you shouldn't qualify for any of these types of days off? The original reason for today being a non-working day was for "Religious Observances" but how many of you have today off and plan on doing anything religious-like?

I think we should round up everyone that isn't using this time off to go to church, and send them back to the office.

Told you my brain was weird.

(And as an aside, if any of you decide to start an anti-religion whine-fest in the comments, I'll delete your posts from here, and post them elsewhere for the world to see what a bumhead you actually are. You post on my blog, your words become mine to do with what I like)

Boo Hoo :(

Yesterday, while sitting watching television, the first Cadbury Creme Egg advert came on... Ready for Easter.

January 3rd... Why Oh WHY!  I've not even taken down the f**kin' Xmas Decs yet!!  I'm going to check my local shop in the morning - I know for a FACT they've had their eggs in the store room since Mid-November!  Bet they are on display...

Merry Easter!

Ho Ho Ho! I hope Father Easter Bunny on his sleigh pulled by little fluffy chicks has bought you what you wanted.

Hey... If they can put Easter Eggs in the shop in January, I cannot be considered strange... So with a nod to the two inches of snow that was here for a few hours today, I give my Easter Themed videos. Note, the second one is a bit bloody (from Passion of Christ) but it IS worth the watch if you're not offended by it, crucifixion and the rest of it.

Merry Easter to all, and to all a good night!

*burp*

Now to finish the kids eggs for them...

Oh, anyone know if the Easter Bunny saw his shadow today? Doesn't that mean if he did we get forty days and forty nights of rain?

Ho Ho Ho, Merry... Easter

Every year, I make a point of hunting for that Waskally Wabbit, and every year, it gets earlier and earlier that I find his little presents.

And I don't mean his crap.

Well, it is his crap, but not his literal crap.

I took the following picture last week, but kept forgetting to upload it. I think it was the 5th or the 6th of January, but can't be sure. I asked one of the women in the store how long they've had them, and she said they took delivery some time in either early December or late November, and they put them up in the first few days of the new year. And there are more to come.

That, ladies and gents, is the end of the Easter Aisle in Asda (which is owned by WalMart), taken on the 5th or 6th January.

Easter this year is 23rd March, in case you didn't know. Pretty much three months away.

Added to this, all the Valentines stuff is out too, and that's a month-and-a-half away still. Not that we do V-Day, but none the less...

Talk About Keen...

Ladies and Gentlemen, it's happened. I think it happened yesterday, but I wasn't really paying attention, so I could be wrong. Not likely, mind you, but you never know...

But today, I went into the shop, and I kept my eyes open. I wanted to be sure, wanted to be completely certain before I announced my discovery. A cure? A missing person? A local celeb? No no, dear reader.

The appearance of the Easter Eggs. As of 2.45pm GMT, our local shop has a stack of eggs, bunnies, mini-eggs, cards and everything else on display all ready for Easter. As of 3pm, Gemma confirmed that a local supermarket ALSO have stocks on display. Now, this isn't much of a surprise, as mentioned earlier in the year when all the Xmas stuff was up and ready in the shops for the first week of September.

But come on, that was three months early. This is 2 days shy of FOUR months early. And it also adds an all-new pressure on me. With Easter (apparently) looming, there is a far more, scary, dread-filled date on the same date. See, Easter this year falls on April 8th. A date in infamy.

The day Jo was spawned. Yes folks, I now have EXTRA reminders, and even LESS chance to ignore forget her birthday!

And, speaking of Jo... She had something done today...
