Musical Monday #12 - Magic Carpet Ride
Musical Monday... on a Monday!
I wasn't sure what I was going to go for this week, and the first two tracks I came across had the "Embed" option removed - I imagine because they are "official" music industry postings on YouTube more than anything. But after scanning through my playlist, I came across a song that I thought would make an interesting posting, and maybe even get a rise out of several readers.
Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride is a well-known song from the late '60s. Most people know it, or at the very least, know of it. It has been used in movies, TV shows, computer games, adverts - it's around, and I love it. It's one of my oldie-tracks that I enjoy listening to.
And I can hear you oldies cringing as you remember it from back in the day!
However, my Musical Monday choice is not the Steppenwolf song. This version has been credited to various DJs and Performers, but I am not entirely sure who it is. So why post it? Because I like it. That's not to say You will like it, you might hate it, you might not care. But it's all good!
I can almost hear the collective outcry of young (Christine!) and old (everyone else)...

Sacrilege!!
I love the original version (more so since it was featured on the soundtrack to "Star Trek First Contact".
Christine will just love it!
Oops! I saw the frame it froze on and thought it was Amish Paradise. :P Guess I should've listened first....
Still!
*outcry*
Loads of good clips in here! Yay for Musical Monday!
The original is one of my favourite golden oldies too! Good choice.
*outcry!*
I saw the young (Christine) do her *outcry* and I'm soooooo old, I had to add mine so as to not make a liar out of you.
I vaguely remember hearing parts of the song here and there but I like this remix. Jolly good! (my Britt imitation for the day). BUT when I first read "magic carpet ride" I thought of the song from Disney's Aladdin and wondered why you would post it. haha!
Speaking of imitating British accents, Miss Jess is trying to talk like a britt all the time now... awaiting the time when we get to go see the new Harry Potter movie. It's getting on my nerves. LOL
