Kids!

I woke up late this morning. I didn't mean to, but after fighting the power that is Microsoft, I was up till late, then I took some tablets, then I lay in bed reading for an hour - oh look, gone 2am.

Incidently, I finished the Book of Words trilogy night before last. Excellent set of books, and if you like low-fantasy stories, you will probably enjoy it as much as I did. Lots of emotion and gritty "realism", so two thumbs up for it, and the author, J.V Jones is very good at what she does! Of course, this does put me at a crossroads. I've not got any new books as there isn't much out there catching my eye at the moment, and I spent twenty minutes debating on The Riftwar Saga (Magician, Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon) by Raymond E. Feist, or The Farseer Trilogy (Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest) by Robin Hobb. I ended up on The Farseer Trilogy, so no doubt will read The Riftwar Saga in a couple of weeks!!

Anyways - before that tangent hit me - the kids. I woke up and tottered past the kids bedroom - no kids. Probably in the lounge, watching television. Past the lounge - no kids. Hmmm, probably eating their breakfast in the kitchen. As I come down the stairs, I hear the dulcet tones of a minigun... Upon entering the kitchen, I discover the kids have trashed the place, the dog has had the rubbish bin over, and Jaysen has installed and configured Serious Sam, a first person shooter, onto my computer, and was merrily cutting down the nasties.

Not impressed - he knows he's not allowed on the computers first thing in the morning, ESPECIALLY my computer! So no doubt it's going to be one of those days.

Which is doubly confirmed by the bloody headache that is back once again. I woke up, felt like I had been drinking all night - which I haven't - and now sit here in my shades looking cool. Well, as cool as one can look in shades and boxers... The house is a bloody state, and it needs to be sorted, so armed with my hoover, by dustbin bags and an attitude, I am off to clean house.

I'd ask Jo to help me, were it not for the current sounds of retching coming from the bathroom!! hehehe
