Ain't That The Truth

So, after not sleeping Saturday Night/Sunday Morning, yesterday was kind of... Hazy. I know I was up and about pissing around on the computer, but for most of the day I just felt tired. The word "Feh" describes it best - once again another weekend gone, another week closer to Xmas, and most of it seems to have been spent with me struggling to stay awake.

Caught this video on YouTube this morning (while getting Jaysen sorted for school) and it shows what the world thinks of "Beauty" these days...

There is so much pressure on people - not just women anymore - to look perfect it's depressing. You see these stick-thin insects on the catwalk, in the catelogs, on the makeup counters - well, pretty much everywhere - and they are supposed to be the epitome of perfect.

Pffft. There is nothing worse than a woman that has bones poking out, and stresses that she's eaten one bit of chocolate, or hasn't made herself sick since breakfast. Even worse, take afore-mentioned stick-thin-girl, and strap a set of fake boobs on her. It's like a thin block of flats with an ugly extension three-quarters of the way up.

Like I say, it's not just on the women any more - granted, it's more focused on the ladies, but the blokes out there have "proper" images thrown at us each day. The Lynx adverts, for example, usually use a boring-looking chap. He's not wobbly anywhere mind you. They then "advertise" that their deodrants will make all the super-model-esque women throw themselves at you. Yeah. The shaving ads - not only do they make razors try and appear like they go through a design process akin to jet fighters and sports cars, but every single ad has the rugged guy with what appears to be half an hour of beard growth on his face. Oh, and he shaves and gets the girl. It's a sharp bit of metal in a wiggly-shaped bit of metal!

I shaved last night. No girlies threw themselves at me. I also used a girlie shampoo/conditioner, yet I'm not having men follow me around, nor did I make those sounds in the shower...

Don't fret over how you look, don't make your life revolve around exercise or diets, and don't compare yourself to ANYONE in Hollywood. You're fine just how you are.

I am fat, will lose a bit of weight, but I am not Elle mcpherson, never will be and wouldn't want to be either !! If I got down to the weight that the diet 'experts' say I should be I look ill, seriously ill . I have only once been my 'perfect ' weight and that was when I couldn't eat for three months after breaking my jaw. I looked horrendous and got classed by the doctor as anorexic !!

Beauty comes from within, bit of a cliche, I know but its true, I know someone who is considerably bigger than the experts say she should be, but she is the most beautiful person I know .

I detest the 'beauty' industry with a passion.

And what about the 'feminine hygeine' adverts which tell you that using a certain item will instantly enable you to rollerskate , sky dive and generally take part in all kind of activities.

Oooooh could rant for hours on this subject !

The hygene ads always make me chuckle.

Me: "That time of the month Jo, go get your roller skates and parachute, we're going adventuring!"
Jo: *muffled voice from under the duvet* "F**k off and get me some chocolate and a hot water bottle."
Me: "Rollerskates!"
Jo: *gives me THAT look*
Me: *dies in a pool of my own blood*

i get it wrong every time, I now realise that I can only rollerskate with out falling over, sky dive or parchute without dying, or snowboard or even go snokling with out freezing to death or without drowing at that time of the month, god since this coil fitting (6 weeks ago) I should have had an adventure of a lifetime, but instead I feel like c**P//

And speaking of razors, now comes the males razor with a battery in it. Vibrates the blades or some crap while you shave. I'd buy an electric one if I wanted to do that.

I'm not going anywhere near what happens if they replicate this for females .........

I'll likely be in the same pool of blood as Dan!

Tim - over here they already have the girlies vibrating shaver, but I've not seen one for us lads... Jo has one!

China Blue found an interesting article about "female products" a couple of weeks back... Read it here.
