Oops and Ouch
You know, over the years I've been woken from my slumber in many various ways, from alarms, phone calls, fights outside, kamikazi cats, dogs thinking there is a burglar in the house - I've pretty much covered all the "Woken In Interesting Fashion" basics. Last night I came across another method.
See, I was having a dream, and I suspect it stems from watching too much 24 of late. I was in a car park, sneaking around a car to get something from a van, plus someone was chasing me. So I am crouched behind a car, see this "someone" come around from the other side, so I surprise him with a powerful kick to the guts.
Except, where his "guts" were, happened to be a brick wall beside my bed. I sat bolt upright, nursing my foot with a thinly concealed "Fuuuuuuuck!" in the dead of night. Of course, the kick and my bolt-uprightness scare the crap out the dogs, the midget giving a very manly gruff of surprise. I checked the clock. 3.06am.
Somehow, I managed to not swear again.

OWIE!! Next time you should dream that where the bad-guy's guts are is a soft pillow... maybe that would have helped your dream end on a "lighter" note? :-P
That is a very interesting story. It's 4:23am here and I'm still trying to figure out how to GET TO SLEEP! I'm supposed to get up in 2 1/2 hours to get ready to go see Brandon perform in a school play. I hope I make it!
You're not alone. My brother was having a dream that he was stuck in a shed of some sort and was trying to get out. Ended up throwing his ghetto blaster (now that's dated) through the window as only my brother could.
