Asleep On My Feet

The last week (ish) has been a bit crap.  But not for me, not really.  Kellie and her family, however, have had to say goodbye Kellies nan.

Last week, she was taken very sick, and it appears that she's been a lot sicker than doctors at her local hospital have been alluding to.  So, aside from the grief of the loss, there are a lot of unanswered questions, confusion and anger.

To give you an idea of how much the hospital seemed to have NO clue - she was taken in on Wednesday, and Thursday evening they were talking about her going home Friday morning.  By eleven o clock Friday morning, they were talking about her slipping away that afternoon.

By half two, she had gone.

Such was the suddenness of it, me and Kellie got there minutes short.

I've spent this weekend - plus Monday & Tuesday - with Kellie, doing what I can and being her little rock in the storm blowing around her.  We've not done anything, but it was all I could do.  Sally was with Cel, Bast was well fed and rather miffed at being left home alone with only the occasional face to check on her.  I literally shot out of here Friday morning without doing anything.  As I sit here, I've got washing up, laundry, clearing up, mopping...  So fast did I leave, I packed one whole pair of boxer shorts!

Anyway, with all the paperwork and everything done, the funeral has been arranged now for the week between Xmas and New Year, so hopefully Xmas won't be too hard on everyone.

To top it all off, Friday I woke up with a runny nose and a scratchy throat, so while I've been there for Kellie to cuddle when she needed it, I've also had a stinking cold.  Coughing, sweating, snotting...  I really am the picture of gorgeousness.

Last week I was also privvy to the fun that was the Winter Vomiting Bug... Which was nice.

So - with everything going on, then getting back yesterday, grabbing the kids, getting shopping, getting in, getting them to bed and everything - I'm knackered.  Ruth has taken Jaysen in for me this morning thank goodness, so that's one less thing to worry about.

Today should be filled with housework, but I keep thinking of other stuff I need to do too, so hopefully I can stay focused and get on with what needs doing... He says hopefully...

With Tam helping, no less.

Kellie, sorry hun, must be hard on you at this time of year but hold on to your memories of your Nan, and raise your glass and toast to her memory at Christmas time, she will be with you in spirit if not personally.

ps Dan hope you are feeling better, sounds like you too have been through the wars.
