The Plot Thickens

After yesterdays Doctor-Based shenanigans, today we fully expected Kellie to march to see Mr GP and make his insides outsides after being made to sit and twiddle our thumbs up at A&E.

She called the docs and asked to see him, and after a bit, she got an appointment to come down and discuss the findings.

We've just got back in and impressively, Kellie seems to have made a high-score on this Triglyceride test thing.  A "high" reading is usually something like 1.8-2.0.  Kellie managed to get a nice big 20.8.

So not just high, but "Wheeee I can see my house from here!"

This, of course, was a bit impressive, and the better question would be WHY is it so high.  There's no real reason for it, but he thinks it's her body just being stupid.  So, much to her chagrin, she has to have another fasting blood test next week, but between now and then, she's being started on Omacor, which is (apparently) Omega-3-acid ethyl esters, or, to you and me, super-duper-fish-oil.  On top of this, she also has to take Simvastatin, one of the statin family.  Both these tablets reduce cholesterol and triglycerides.

All things being equal, next weeks blood test should show that this stuff in her blood is reduced to a normal level.  He's told her to watch out for tummy pains as this could be her pancreas having some sort of problems thanks to these high levels.  There was a name for it, but it escapes me...

Hopefully, with these tablets, things will go back to a normal level for her, and she can stop worrying about something else being done to her.  Personally, I think everything that is going on in her body is connected to one another - the tiredness, the morning stomach aches, the various aches and pains in her body.

Just be nice to get an answer at some point this month!
