Facebook Guilt
To my fellow residents of Facebooktopia;
For the love of ALL THINGS small and fluffy, please stop with the guilty Facebook statuses trying "Raise Awareness" for this, that or the other.
Let me explain... Or don't let me, I'm still gonna. Some days, I log on to Facebook and scroll down to see what Tom, Dick and indeed, Harry have been up to. Some days, I scroll through thinking "Aw, having a crap time" or "Hehe, that's pretty funny" but then, I come across THEM...
"Blah blah blah, 99% of you won't bother... Blah blah blah" or "I know most of you don't care, but I know the ones that do"
I wouldn't mind, but it's a constant thing. I'm all for raising awareness of whatever strikes the worlds fancy at this moment in time, however, the fact you feel like you need to Guilt Trip people into doing so just hacks me off.
Let's look at it another way. If you're in the street, and a charity collector came up to you and said "Can I have some money please, but I know 99% of you won't bother" you will consider it rude, and probably even say something to said-person... So why do it on Facebook?
You'll notice, with the exception of amusing ones (involving, Dinosaurs or Ninjas or what-not) that I've never updated my Facebook with "Awareness, Guilt, Awareness" and even on the amusing ones, I take out the part about "99% of you won't bother"
So please, by ALL means, spread your awareness, bang your drum, stand on a hill and shout at the top of your voice... But as soon as you try to pull the guilt trip, your post gets sent to the Big Rubbish Bin In The Cyber Sky.
That is all.

Do you knock down street 'Chuggers' also! Good man!
hehehe I will either say "I've got no change" when blatenty jangling, or tell them I already donate via Direct Debit. I wish they would just take "No thanks!" as an answer...
I'm totally in agreement there, Dan. I treat it with the same contempt as chain letters. Always refused to pass those in by mail or email out of principle and I don't plan on starting now.
I look at the "guilt trip post" and the huge amount of posts on their page telling me all the fun things they did for the past week, and then I look at my same four walls again and think "yeah...you understood that (sarcasm overload)"
I am walking 10 miles at midnight this weekend for charity, Don't suppose you wanna sponsor me, do ya Dan? ... Mwahaha!!!!
