the front door...

what is it about today?! even hour, someone different selling or trying to sell something has knocked on the door - three DIFFERENT double glazing companies, some chap selling "cheap jewellery", another selling mobile phone gear, a window cleaner, a milkman and the local paper trying to drum up some custom...

the double glazers all open with the same line "Good afternoon sir, i'm just in the neighbourhood, and i represent , and we are selling our windows and doors at discount prices."

they make it so easy for me to reply "sorry, i already have windows and doors, and have no room for more..." before closing the door on them. if they trying to push the point, they can talk to the front door (the DOUBLE GLAZED front door!). can't be bothered with them.

and the most ODD thing today - out of the blue, a telemarketer offering me a MONEY COUNTER at a 75% discount. it counts COINS and NOTES! WOW! up until this point i was incapable... let me empty my pocket - oh my goodness, i can't count how many coins there are, nor how many notes - i wish i had a money counter.

no - wait - i'm not dumb! one £5 note. two £2 coins. one £1 coin. three 20pence coins. one 5p coin. two 2p coins. one 1p coin. £10.70. let me recount.. nope, still £10.70... or is it £34.21? maybe if i had bought the money counter i would know for certain...

ok - i've had a look - look at how much they cost! but wait - with a 75% discount, that would only set me back £144! bargain! no, wait - i don't think the afore-mentioned £10.70 will cut it....

other than that, i've had a nice quiet day...
