An Idea: Podcasting?

Over the last couple of months, I've taken to listening to a couple of podcasts. Nothing major, just stuff that interests and tickles me. I often think to myself, "Maybe it'd be interesting and/or amusing to try it out" putting my own podcast out on the blog for any and all that want it. You never know, there might be someone out there that wants to hear Mr Dan babble on about nothing...

For the Net-Dummies out there wondering what a Podcast is, this definition is taken direct from Wikipedia:

A podcast is a media file that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. Like 'radio', it can mean both the content and the method of syndication. The latter may also be termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. The term "podcast" is derived from Apple's portable music player, the iPod. However, known synonyms for the word pod are capsule, case, container, hull, husk, shell, and vessel. A pod refers to a container of some sort and the idea of broadcasting to a container or pod correctly describes the process of podcasting.
The easy version - instead of writing a post, I "talk" a post, which you then download. Seeing Christine do her Vlogcast (Video Log) last week actually inspired me even more. Even though she chickened out and used Sign Language instead of actually talking!

Of course, the big question I ask myself is, would I be able to do it? I tend to get very tongue-tied when TRYING to speak, but I've been reading a few guides here and there with suggestions for just that sort of thing, such as writing notes on what you're wanting to say, and then do it in blocks you can edit together.

Very cunning.

So here's my question to you the reader: If I were to offer an audio post every now and then, would you download it/listen to it. If so, how often would you like it? Every few days, once a week, a fortnight, a month? Or is this a bad idea?

Please leave comments with your thoughts/opinions :) Who knows - it could catapult me into fame, riches and glory! Either that, or I can send voice messages to people that give me a hard time amongst you lot... British Swearing and Cussing 101 - to your kids.

[Edit: Completely off subject, but any of you Essex dwellers that visit listen to EssexFM and heard that girl win £5000 on the RockWords contest... That would be Faith, Ruths sister. So congrats to her! And if any of you International sorts want to listen to our radio station, go to their website ;) I highly recommend the breakfast crew...]

I think it's a great idea! Go for it!

Once a week would be good. You can recap your week! Yes, I would download and listen to it. :)

Pssht! Chicken out, heh. I had been watching ASL (American Sign Language) vlogs for a while. I watched some other vlogs where people verbally spoke, but it just dulled me... I figured why not do something that looks... remotely interesting... where I don't have ot use my voice, heh.

Hope to hear your podcast soon!

I'm with the mom up above....

And, I would listen, maybe even download it and edit it myself to make it sound like you are saying something you didn't mean to.

Maybe I could even get it to make it sound like you make sense on occasion.

So, I say, go for it.lol

Karin - I think knowing my luck, if I created swearing and cussing 101, it would come back to bite my ass. Secret Service kidnapping me and charging me with "Corrupting Americas Youth" or something.

Not that they NEED help from little ol' me ;)

Christine - Ta for the input. And just admit you hate your own voice :D

Jenny - Trust me, given the garbled crap it will become, you'll need to be a miracle worker to pull ANY sense from it!

Don't worry about the ipod - you can download and listen on your computer or normal mp3 player if you have one...

I might start looking at audio software tomorrow then, as this seems to be fairly well received. NO clue what I will be doing on it, I suspect you lot will be listening and waiting for me to pronounce the english language incorrectly or something.

Unless I speak proper essex innit.

You still doing the video cam?? I haven't "seen" you lately!!

Actually I need to add the webcam code back on here as it was one of those things that were in the way for the moment :D

...Well that too. Okay, maybe not hate, but at least I am honest, hehe.

I'm honest :D I hate my voice, and no doubt will do one podcast and think "Eeeek!" and never do it again!

I want to hear you try an American accent...rofl...

I don't do accents very well. I can almost pull off Australian, and I can make myself sound as common as muck, but otherwise, no dice :D
